OFFICE HAZARDS

Scam With Your Friends Viruses, Police & Disasters

Identify in-game hazards, use the documented Malwarebits cleanup action, and distinguish police raids from a phone task.

THE SHORT ANSWER

Official sources confirm viruses, scambaiters, police raids and airstrikes. Malwarebits has a Remove virus action for instant-cleanup editions. Exact raid timers and guaranteed airstrike shelters are not documented in the linked sources.

Which disasters are in the game?

The official Steam description lists computer viruses, police raids and airstrikes among the office hazards. The developer website also warns about scambaiters while using remote access. These are events inside the fictional game.

Start by identifying what is affected: the in-game computer, movement around the office, or the whole shift. A computer popup, an online AI-service warning and a police raid need different responses.

Computer viruses and popupsHotfix 2 disables these on laptops. Update 0.1.82 improves Malwarebits cleanup controls. On an affected in-game computer, check Malwarebits and the edition’s available action. The laptop exception is not a claim that all office hazards are disabled.
ScambaitersThe developer warns about scambaiters alongside remote access and viruses.Check the current caller and task instructions before continuing a remote-access session. The official sources do not give a universal phrase that identifies or defeats every scambaiter.
Police raidsListed as an office hazard in the Steam description.Follow the event’s on-screen instructions. A raid is separate from the Police Impersonation phone task. No fixed raid timer or universal escape route is established by the linked notes.
AirstrikesListed as an office hazard in the Steam description.Read the current event prompt and tell teammates what is happening. The sources do not identify a guaranteed safe room, spawn time or avoidance exploit.
Office firesUpdate 0.1.82 widens fire-extinguisher spray coverage.Use the in-game extinguisher for a fire and check whether it goes out. This change does not establish protection from raids or airstrikes.

How to remove an in-game virus

Update 0.1.82 says Malwarebits now shows a clear Remove virus action for instant-cleanup editions and confirms successful removal.

  1. Identify the affected in-game computer and open its Malwarebits app if available.
  2. Check the installed edition and its displayed controls. Use Remove virus when that instant-cleanup action is offered.
  3. Look for the successful-removal confirmation. Opening the app alone does not confirm cleanup.
  4. If the problem remains, note the app edition, visible action, exact message and game version before reporting it.

The named action is documented for instant-cleanup editions, so a different edition may not show the same control. The notes do not establish an identical cleanup sequence for every edition. For the rest of the desktop tools, use the app reference.

Hotfix 2’s laptop exception is useful when comparing reports: specify whether the affected device is an in-game laptop or desktop. It does not tell you whether an unrelated Windows security alert is caused by the game; the instructions here concern the fictional desktop only.

Police raid or Police Impersonation task?

A raid is an office event. Police Impersonation is a phone task with a payout condition. The task requires entering the caller’s fine payment confirmation number under 0.1.73; later updates improve the caller’s instructions and code handling.

If the problem is a missing task payout, check the Police Impersonation row. If an office event interrupts play, follow its current prompt and note the event name. Entering a fine code is not a documented way to end a raid.

Stuck or knocked out of your seat?

Update 0.1.82 adds an I’m stuck control hint to the HUD and a Knockdown Protection reminder after a player is knocked out of a seat. Use the control shown for your current bindings rather than copying an unverified key from an older guide.

Update 0.1.83 prevents seated players from being knocked into a ragdoll and makes ragdoll shortcuts respect computer input capture. If a guide recommends a seated ragdoll trick, its behavior may no longer match the current version. These fixes are not a documented immunity to every disaster.

After an interruption

Once normal interaction is available, check the open task and actual credited earnings before repeating it. A caller’s earlier agreement does not establish that a final cash-out or code entry completed. Compare the result with the task completion table and current quota.

For a recurring event bug, report the game version, event name, solo or co-op, whether the host was affected, and the visible instruction or missing control. Keep a short clip only if you are comfortable sharing its conversation and player audio. Use Boss review to examine the shift outcome, or save guidance if the separate problem is missing progress after relaunching.
